Synopsis

For the first time, this docudrama series offers an immersive experience of the initial months of the First World War from deep inside the carnage. Across four episodes covering the summer of 1914, a handful soldiers tell their stories from the very heart of the action. Their testimonies come from their letters and diaries. Colourised archive plunges us back into the war they lived through.
