Synopsis

They were French, German, Belgian, English, Russian or Hungarian: some of them wrote war diaries, memoirs. Through their testimonies, this series tells the story of the beginnings of the Great War, in the middle of the summer of 1914. Across four episodes covering the summer of 1914, a handful soldiers tell their stories from the very heart of the action.
