EXCLUSIVE: National Geographic has boarded French doc series Rise and Fall of the Mayas.

The Disney-owned factual network is among three new pre-buyers attached to the series, which was originally ordered by France’s RMC Decouverte and pre-bought in the country by Histoire TV.

The series “Rise and fall of the Maya” (4×45′), produced by Pernel media, reveals new clues to the latest mysteries surrounding this civilization.  These latest discoveries are transforming our long held ideas of how these people came to dominate vast areas of Mexico and Central America.  This series had groundbreaking access to an expedition at Aguada Fenix, which is the oldest and largest Mayan site found to date.
